Meeting Bella

More adventures in St. George! Here is a picture of Sofie standing. She's really starting to get the hang of it, although I haven't thought to get a picture yet. It's hard to tell in this one, but she's just standing there all on her own! (Check out those toes digging into the carpet for balance!)
This is the face we see a lot more of now that her tongue has discovered those cute little teeth.

The mischievous look...who knows what is next!

Meeting Bella, the Blatter's latest cuddly puppy. Such a cute pair of babies!

Sofie seemed to love the puppy, but when we tried to get her on film it seemed that the rug was suddenly more interesting! She wasn't too sure of Bella after the big wet kiss she got from top to bottom. Sofie is used to Dad's prickly kisses, not so much the slobbery dog ones.

FINALLY some sunshine!

The sun finally came out long enough to warm the air for a St. George trip and swim in Grandma and Grandpa Blatter's pool. Sofie loves the big glorified tub! Sofie and Daddy

Lots of kids, and lots of rough-housing adults makes for lots of splashing!

Happy Camper

This past weekend we all went up camping to Timpooneke (up A.F. canyon). It was gorgeous. Friday was warm and sunny, but too cold to sleep in a tent with the baby, so we came home to sleep, then headed back up on Saturday to get poured on for a few hours. Sofie LOVED being out there. She was so excited about all the leaves everywhere! And she found a new favorite food group, rocks and pine needles.

Loves Great Grandma Porcaro!

Slept wonderfully under the canopy...woke up in terror

Staying warm by the fire

With Shayla and cousin Sierra. Don't worry, Sofie won't be embarassed about the hat 'til she's older. :)

Expanding Our Pallet

While Grandma was busy baking cupcakes for Roo's birthday tomorrow, and Mom was busy chopping fruit...Sofie was expanding her pallet. Turns out she loves flour. Mmmm pastey.

Rooey is a missionary!

Roo left today on her Mission!! She will be in the MTC for about a month, then she will be flying out to Missouri, Independence Mission (which includes the Visitor's Center, and most of Kansas). She has a new blog, for those of you who know her, that we will be updating as often as we can. Feel free to check it out: sisteradamson.blogspot.com For some reason it isn't flagging people when it's updated though, so wait a little while and we'll try to fix that once we get Roo's password to change the settings. Saying bye to Sofie, she's almost be 2 1/2 when Roo sees her next!
Heavy luggage

Saying bye to Andrea

The drop off at the MTC (and it's just that, a drop off, now that they've changed the procedure)

Mom, Dad, and Sister Adamson at the MTC. See you in a year and a half!

New Cousin

My cousin Serena finally had her baby! It's been a few days now, but she was having labor pains for days and days, so we were all so relieved to hear that she finally had him. His name is Cairo John. 7 pounds, 18 inches. Tiny little guy! And it's so weird how your own tiny baby suddenly seems like a giant kid when there is a real newborn around! Sofie has gained over 10 pounds since she was born! (sounds sadly familiar...)

Summer Hair

The old hair. Cute, but I needed a change. The new hair, thanks to my wonderful sister Shayla. Really, I just wanted to be Posh Spice, but I'll settle for just the hair. (there are some bangs too, but I clipped 'em back...in the way already)

The side view. Ignore the dork-look on my face. I was talking when the camera went.

9 months

Sofie turns 9 months tomorrow! I seriously cannot believe how fast it's gone! She went to her doctor's appointment yesterday and is healthy as can be. She only gained 1/2 a pound in the last two months, so she is finally catching up to her chunkiness (sad times!) She crawls and babbles and pulls herself up on things. She is determined to stand up on her own and continues to practice despite the head bumps that follow! She's got two bottom teeth and some swollen gums up top. Her hair is starting to grow and she usually has a fro after bathing.
As for Mom and Dad, things are just plugging along. Derek is in full time summer school while working full time as well, so he's soooo busy, but always finds time for baby and mom. I haven't been too lucky lately and stressed myself into a wonderful case of Shingles this week! (No, shingles is not an STD, it's a recurrence of chicken pox after the virus lies dormant in your nerves for years, brought on by stress and lack of sleep) The doctor put me on a medication that he doesn't want Sofie to get via nursing, so I've been busy both bottle feeding Sofie and trying to maintain my milk supply in the mean time. Hopefully this goes away quickly, and let's pray that Sofie still takes to nursing after taking a bottle for this long.
I wish I could make this face bigger 'cuz I love the look!

Happy Baby!

Sofie and Great-Grandpa Bob

Sofie and her cousin Giuseppe met this last week. They instantly loved each other! Seppe put his arm around her and Sofie wouldn't stop kissing him. I'd put up the kissing picture but it looked a little disturbing ;)

Sofie has learned how to get into the kitchen cupboards! Oh no!

I didn't catch it on film, but Sofie has learned how to pull herself up onto just about anything these days. This video is after she found her way up against the dishwasher.

Memorial Day

For Memorial Day, Derek woke up early and worked all day to finish my parents' beautiful block retaining wall. Then Sofie, Derek and I walked down to the cemetary to see Derek's Grandparents' graves. We're so grateful for the awesome weather we had today! Now the yard is ready for Roo's Mission Farewell.
Here is the lovely garden that Derek first made ready, and that my mom put together. (Derek and I planted the chives) We were so excited to be able to use our radishes, chives, and spinach already this week!

Workin' hard!

Still a little bit more work to be done around the stairs, but the rest of the wall is done!
