Birthday Girl!

Sofie turned one yesterday! It was noisy and fun with grandparents and some cousins. (Sofie wasn't terribly animated though 'cuz she didn't have much luck with naps that day)

First we opened gifts...lots of gifts. This baby girl is so spoiled!

Then we tried the cake thing (emphasis on tried). Sofie at this point had too much noise and not enough nap I think...so the cake was rather intimidating to her. She just poked around at it for a while. The videos show a little bit. Eventually we gave her a spoon and she played around with that for a while. Then as a last resort Derek pushed the cake into her face. She never really got past the frosting!

I got a free 1st Birthday cake from Albertsons. Pretty cool! Not the cutest cake in the world, but definitely the cheapest. And it did it's job well. (Don't worry, everyone else got a great "Earthquake Cake", which was incredibly good, by the way.)

Can't get over it!!

Here's my little Bam Bam, and I can't get over the fact that she's turning 1 on Sunday!!! Ahhhh! She's so stinkin' cute! Thought I'd blog my feelings on that and just let ya know!
I had to put the clip right on the top of her head so that she couldn't reach it to rip it out.

11 months, 2 weeks and 5 days!!

She walks!! (sort of)

If we can get her to hold onto things in both hands, it tricks her into thinking she's holding onto something for balance and she's more brave. How darling! My little girl is all grow'd up!

Rippin' up the carpet

Sofie got this great push-toy for her birthday (which isn't for another couple of weeks, but her aunts and uncles couldn't wait!). She loves the music and is showing us some new dance moves. (by the way, Sofie's hair is apparently in transition right now too, just like mom's. Can't do much with the mullet...) Today Sofie took a couple of steps on her own, no hands!!! We had to trick her into doing it, but she did it! I wish I had caught it on film 'cuz I'm sure it won't happen again for a while. She's getting so grown up :)

Eden Rain

My friend Lisa Garber had a second baby girl this last weekend. Her name is Eden Rain. She's gorgeous!! Anyway, Lisa will have her hands full. Her babies are only 10 1/2 months apart. (For the first baby, check out the October 2008 post called "Essence Jade".)
(yeah, I know, I need a haircut, it grows too fast!)

Mullett Makeover!

She's so darling. I love how you can see her bright red "stork bite" on her hairline (the picture doesn't show it very well unless you magnify it) So far she's only tried to pull 'em out twice :)

Peaceful Sunday Morning

This is what Grandma and Grandpa Adamson got to wake up to on this Sunday morning. I promise it was louder in real life. (also, yes, it did eventually land on her head and make her cry...) It looks like a great core workout!! I can't believe Sofie is 11 months old! She's learning all kinds of things like where my nose is (she understands the word, but doesn't say it), as well as what her "plug" is, and also her "hippo." What she still hasn't learned is that a sippy cup is a wonderful thing that she better get the hang of ASAP so I can stop nursing her!! She's getting braver on her toes and can walk with just one hand stabilizing her! I got about a week of Sofie sleeping through the night again, but now she's sprouting another tooth, so it's not so "through the night" anymore.

Camping at Tropic

Derek, Sofie and I spent the weekend down at Tropic Reservoir (Dixie Ntl. Forest) with the Blatters. It was nice to get out of the heat, although a little cold the first night. Relaxing on Mom's bed after a night of not-so-much sleep
Sofie got plenty of extra attention from cousins Cameron and Broden.

Fishing at Tropic Reservoir. (With so many boys in the family, Sofie gets plenty of attention!)

The highchair rig. Sofie loved having pancakes for breakfast! And yes, the dork hat to keep her ears warm :)

Loving Cousin Cameron

The camp.

And just in case the woods don't keep you occupied...Jake brought up the foosball table. This thing got PLENTY of use over the weekend!

A little too close to a forest fire. Don't worry it was managed, but still a little smokey.

Highlights of the Evenin'

My (Andrea's) mom and I got to watch Sierra for the day. Both girls took a nap at the exact same time, and woke up at the exact same time! Sierra was an angel all day, and also kept Sofie entertained. :)
Looks like the pecking order is already beginning to settle in this relationship, although Sofie doesn't seem to mind the labor.

Darling baby girl watching a butterfly. I feel like I should attach a poem!

Who says '95 Ford Escorts don't need a little TLC every once in a while. Derek spent the evening fixing a problem with my car...although we didn't have enough Lube for the job Derek was resourceful and found something he's a little more familiar with (as a massage therapist): Soothing Touch Lavander Scented Massage Oil.
Should I be jealous that my husband was using massage oil on the underbelly of my car??
